Invention Liaison Program

Find your path with ILP

The Invention Liaison Program (ILP) is an educational initiative that is currently being piloted at MGH from the offices of Research and Licensing in collaboration with the MGH Office of Research Career Development.

Through this program a small network of MGH faculty, the ILP Liaisons, are working with the Research and Licensing office to provide educational outreach and be a resource to MGH investigators on aspects of technology commercialization. The goal of the program is to provide guidance to investigators in (i) evaluating the inventive aspects of their discoveries (ii) the process of protecting intellectual property (iii) process of commercialization and (iv) as a general resource on understanding issues of technology transfer and working with industry.

The ILP Liaisons are MGH faculty who have had experience with various aspects of intellectual property protection, technology transfer and technology commercialization, and are committed to sharing this experience and insight with other investigators.

The program is structured such that there are two group of ILP Liaisons: the Program and Advisory Liaisons. Both, the four Program Liaisons and a larger group of Advisory Liaisons will be accessible to any MGH investigator by request. In addition the Primary Liaisons will also proactively reach out to investigators in the community and will work closely with the Research and Licensing office in this effort.

MGH investigators can contact an ILP Liaison for one-on-one confidential conversation or for a group discussion. Below is the list of the participating ILP Liaisons along with their contact information and a short description of their background and experience, so you can contact the most appropriate ILP Liaisons for your needs.

The ILP program also offers educational seminars and educational resources on topics related to intellectual property and technology commercialization.
